Tracking sunny skies and drier conditions due to atmospheric blocking

Today: Afternoon highs warm into the mid to upper 80s as winds remain out of the northeast at 5-10 mph. Skies return to mostly sunny conditions thanks to an upper-level blocking pattern leading to a parked high pressure system overhead.

Tonight: Overnight lows cool to the mid to lower 60s once again with mostly clear sky conditions. Winds switch out of the east at 4-8 mph.

Extended: The parked high pressure system remains stationary throughout much of the week leading to temperatures nearing 90 degrees Tuesday with mostly sunny skies. A slight change in the position of a low pressure system to our east leads to a slight uptick in clouds overhead beginning Wednesday allowing for partly cloudy conditions. Thursday through Saturday remain mostly dry for much of Mid-Missouri but a spot shower/ thunderstorm remains possible each afternoon. Measurable rainfall across the region remains very low until Sunday where we could see chances of showers and storms return.
