Tracking a cool start Friday, and meaningful rain chances this weekend

TONIGHT: Weakening showers have moved overhead this afternoon, and will barely hang on as they drift south through the evening. This is very light rain, that is additionally fighting some dry air, so we may not get much measurable rain out of this. Cooler air with this means we may cool a bit further overnight as high pressure squeezes in. Clearing skies and calming conditions will help drop temperatures into the 50s by sunrise Friday.

TOMORROW: Starting cool and sunny, Friday will be an overall cooler day. Temperatures will reach low-80s for highs.

EXTENDED: Friday's high pressure will retreat to the east as a low pressure approaches from the southwest on Saturday. We'll start Saturday dry, but in the afternoon, we'll be expecting rain chances to grow as more moisture works in from the southwest. Highs are forecast in the upper 80s, but may come in cooler if rain develops early. Thunderstorms chances grow into the evening, and rain will likely linger into the overnight. On Sunday, the low will pass from west to east, bringing another peak in rain chances through the region. Rain and a cold front trailing the low will keep temps in the 70s for highs on Sunday. Rain totals are starting to look a bit more clear with this system bringing anywhere from a quarter of an inch of rain to an inch in some spots. Most folks will likely end up in the quarter to half inch range, but under stronger storms, more will be possible. Drier weather sets in for Monday, where we're still cool behind the cold front as temps only climb to near 80. Mid-to-upper 80s return midweek. Next week doesn't look encouraging rain-wise, but we're eying a few systems to our southwest by Wednesday.
