Tracking heat and a few strong storms to end the week
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with isolated showers early, lows in the mid-60s.
TOMORROW: Partly sunny and hot with highs in the mid-80s. Isolated to scattered showers and storms by afternoon could be strong, with pea to quarter size hail and gusty winds.
EXTENDED: Showers can't be ruled out tonight, but widespread rain is not expected into the morning. Cloud cover and southeast winds will keep temperatures in the mid-60s overnight as the warm front lifts north. Tomorrow, we'll see hotter high temperatures in the mid-80s and a chance for isolated to scattered storms by mid-late afternoon as instability increases. Some of these storms could bring pea to quarter size hail and up to 50 mph winds. We are not seeing signs of widespread severe weather given the lack of upper or even low level forcing, so at this time we are not planning to issue a Weather Alert Day. Storm coverage starts to diminish after sunset as we lose daytime heating. That warm front will be to our north on Saturday, allowing a south breeze to up temperatures to the upper 80s to around 90. We can't rule out an isolated shower or storm during the day, but we'll have a better shot on Sunday tied to the cold front. That said, the cold front looks to be moving in a bit slower than previously forecast, so high temperatures in the mid-80s are expected Sunday prior to the cold front moving through. Rain could continue in to Monday, but temperatures will be cooler to start the week in the mid-70s. Most of the week will feature temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80 as upper winds try to shift to the northwest. Rain amounts over the next 7 days will be less than 0.75".
