Tracking strong storms for some tonight, hot week ahead

TONIGHT: Isolated severe storms south of Highway 50 through about 10:00 p.m., mostly clear otherwise with lows near 60.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny with highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: Storms have started to develop along a boundary leftover from this morning's storms, bringing the potential for large hail and damaging winds for areas south of Highway 50 through about 10:00 p.m. Tomorrow will be another warm and humid day as highs reach the lower 80s. Storm chances will be slim, but there could be a complex that clips western Missouri by evening. Southwest winds will continue to hold hot and humid conditions through the week, with only isolated storms possible on Wednesday. A warm front lifts through the area on Thursday, bringing a better chance for showers and storms. That system is slow to move across the region, giving us another round of rain on Friday. Despite rain, temperatures remain in the lower to mid-80s Thursday and Friday. The associated cold front moves across Mid-Missouri on Saturday, bringing a continued chance of rain and storms through the weekend. We'll cool a bit on the other side of that, with highs in the lower to mid-70s on Monday. Next week is trending cooler as the upper level jet stream begins to shift more northwesterly.
