Tracking spotty rain chances ahead of a wet and warm pattern

TODAY: Friday is shaping up cooler than Thursday, with more cloud cover, and spotty rain chances. Plenty of dry time will be had today, as shower chances are very limited both this morning and in the afternoon. Today is not the day we make significant progress towards any relief from our drought. A great spring like day to get outside, as temperatures reach to near 70 this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Southerly flow continues overnight, with clouds lingering as well. This keeps temperatures in the 50s overnight.

EXTENDED: The low level jet winds from the south, and upper level flow from the south, will drive daily rain chances over the next seven days. We'll see moisture and warmth pushed into the region through this period, leading to daily rain chances that could lead to measurable precipitation over the next 7 days, but likely only limited amounts day to day. Saturday, we're mostly dry, thanks in part to a solid cap on the atmosphere. We may break through that cap though, if we can get temperatures to warm enough. This looks possible, late in the day, as temperatures will soar into the mid-80s. Any storms that develop on Saturday will have potential to become strong to severe. Over the long term, while no washouts are forecast, we expect this trend to bring daily chances for scattered rainfall, and highs in the 80s at least through Thursday of next week.
