Tracking isolated showers and storms tonight into tomorrow

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with the highest concentration of rain and storms south of I-70. Lows in the upper 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms possible. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.

EXTENDED: Showers and a few storms have started to work in across southwest Missouri, slowly trying to spread north tonight into tomorrow. Storms will be somewhat scattered on Friday, leaving us with some dry time between showers. Cloud cover should keep temperatures right around 70 degrees during the day, with rain and clouds slowly trying to taper off Friday night into Saturday morning. Saturday is looking quite warm as a warm front lifts north across the region, bringing temperatures into the mid-80s. With the front to our north, instability grows but will be limited by a warm capping inversion just above the surface of the ground. Closer to sunset, a few storms could develop as this warm layer erodes, and if storms can get going a few of them could be on the stronger side with large hail and strong wind gusts. Storm coverage will be very sparse, so many areas will end up dry Saturday into Saturday night. The warm front looks to waver across the region Sunday into next week, providing a focus for daily scattered storms. That said, there will be many areas that see little to no rain all week. The expected rainfall for the next 7 days will be around 0.5" to 1". Upper southwest winds will continue to bring in warmer than average temperatures in the mid-upper 80s through the end of the week.
