Tracking gusty winds and dry conditions again on Tuesday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the upper 30s to around 40.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with gusty winds and dry conditions. Fire weather conditions will be possible throughout the day with low humidity, so outdoor burning should be avoided. Highs in the low to mid-60s.

EXTENDED: Upper high pressure keeps us dry through Wednesday, but the low pressure system centered across the northeast and upper Great Lakes will continue to push in strong northwesterly winds on Tuesday. Strong winds coupled with low relative humidity will create fire weather conditions, so outdoor burning should be avoided. The wind direction will also play a role in keeping temperatures cooler than average, but as high pressure moves overhead on Wednesday we'll get back up to about 70 with lighter winds. The upper high pressure system will begin to break down by the end of the week with multiple disturbances rolling in, bringing rain and storms to the area in rounds on Thursday and Friday. Severe weather chances look low, but ingredients are coming into place for thunderstorms Thursday night and on Friday. A couple of those could be strong on Friday afternoon or evening. A few showers may linger early Saturday, but a mostly dry afternoon will allow temperatures to get back into the mid-upper 70s. Sunday will be warm with highs getting closer to 80 degrees, but showers and storms could return later in the day. Rain amounts will be in the 1-1.5" range, which is much needed after recording the second driest April on record.
