Tracking more promising rain chances at the end of the week

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with lows falling into the mid-40s. Rain stays mainly south.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 60s. Chance of showers south of I-70 toward evening.

EXTENDED: A strong low pressure slowly tracking across south southeastern states will send rain in our direction between Wednesday and Thursday, with showers potentially clipping areas south of I-70 between Wednesday evening and Thursday. Most areas north stay dry with temperatures reaching the mid-upper 60s. A cold front works through the area between Friday and Saturday, but that low pressure has been trending a bit weaker with the latest forecast guidance, lessening our chances for widespread measurable rain and keeping temperatures a bit warmer than in earlier forecasts for Saturday. Behind the front, we'll drop into the lower 60s on Sunday with rain exiting and sunshine returning. Next week starts off cooler than average in the mid-60s with our next chance for rain potentially returning by mid-week.
