Tracking cold air with serious spring impacts this weekend
TODAY: Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast as clouds behind yesterday's storms leave to the east. We'll see some high clouds from the southwest today, but you'll still want those shades. Expect a stout west breeze today, in the 15-20 mph range sustained, to keep temperatures seasonable in the mid-60s.
TONIGHT: Our cool down continues tonight, with temperatures falling into the 30s overnight. Skies stay mostly clear, until close to sunrise as we add some low clouds from the north. Northwest winds pull temperatures down into the mid-30s by sunrise. This is frost territory, but wind may keep frost limited. Either way, patchy frost is possible, and you may want to take steps to protect your sensitive vegetation.
EXTENDED: Cold is the theme on Saturday, with temperatures climbing from mid-30s into the upper 40s at best. The low clouds moving in from the north will keep things from warming much, and may even bring some drizzle through the day. Conservatively, we've forecast temps in the high 40s, but if this scenario materializes, we may have to drop that number further. Clouds leave, and winds relax on Sunday, allowing for a warmup back into the mid-50s. This continues on Monday, with temps back in the 60s. We'll stay dry until sometime on Tuesday, when a low approaching from the south starts to increase our rain chances. Chances of rainfall are greatest in the south Tuesday through Thursday as the system passes to our south. Temperatures will likely remain a hair cooler than normal, in the low 60s through these days as well.
