Tracking scattered storms tomorrow, cooling temperatures by Friday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and breezy with lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Scattered storms by mid-late morning, continuing into the afternoon. Highs in the lower 70s. Some storms could bring brief heavy rain and small hail east of Highway 54.

EXTENDED: Clouds have rolled in with a warm front to our north this afternoon, keeping temperatures near 80 degrees. We'll have another mild night as lows only fall to the lower 60s across the area, with a cold front migrating into Mid-Missouri by early Thursday morning. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop along the front by mid-late morning, increasing in coverage as the front moves east throughout the afternoon. Locations east of Highway 54 will have the chance of seeing a couple stronger storms with isolated small hail and brief strong wind gusts through late afternoon. The front will pass to the east by early evening, leaving us with cooling temperatures into the mid-40s by Friday morning. A few showers are possible near I-44 on Friday afternoon or evening near the stalled front, but most stay dry and it gets colder into Saturday morning as we start out in the upper 30s. We may escape some frost depending on cloud cover and strong winds on Sunday morning, but freezing temperatures are expected with lows falling into the lower 40s. Sunday brings more sunshine with highs in the upper 50s, but there could be some patchy frost for parts of the area on Monday morning. Next week, another cold front arrives between Tuesday and Wednesday to bring another round of showers and storms.
