Tracking a warmer Wednesday with late night storms for some

TONIGHT: Showers exit with mostly cloudy skies and lows in the lower 40s. A few spot showers developing near daybreak.

TOMORROW: Morning spot showers or storms, becoming mostly cloudy and windy with a high near 70.

EXTENDED: Rain looks to exit east early this evening, leaving us cloudy with a chance at some scattered morning rain tomorrow. We'll drop into the low 40s tonight with gusty winds up to 30 mph. Tomorrow starts off with a few showers or rumbles of thunder through late morning, but the day is mainly cloudy and breezy with highs near 70. The warm front responsible for the warm up will settle north of I-70 through the evening. There will likely be too much cloud cover for instability to overcome during the day, but we'll be looking for a few strong storms after midnight that could bring the potential for 1" hail across northern Missouri into the wee hours of Thursday morning. Thursday starts off dry and we'll see a cool down from north to south as the front works south throughout the day. Low level winds ramp up by late afternoon into the evening, feeding moisture and triggering widespread rain into Friday, especially along and south of I-70. Points north of there will end up with less rainfall, and the axis of heavy rain looks to be along I-44 into Friday. Locations near that corridor will be in the 2-3" range for rain through Friday afternoon. We'll be cooler in the lower 50s on Friday, but we bounce back to near 60 to kick off the weekend on Saturday. The active pattern returns on Sunday with rain returning later in the day and lasting into Monday.
