Tracking multiple rounds of rain and storms this week

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and not as cold with lows near 40. Breezy, with south wind gusts up to 25 mph.

TOMORROW: Showers moving in by mid-morning with a few embedded thunderstorms. Highs in the mid-upper 40s and breezy.

EXTENDED: The first of several rounds of rain and storms moves in tomorrow, with showers likely from late morning through late afternoon. We'll get a bit of a break until late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning as a warm front lifts north and stalls across northern Missouri. Scattered showers and a few storms are possible, but the main thing we'll be tracking early Wednesday will be the warmer temperatures. Highs reach near 70 degrees by late afternoon. Another round of rain and storms could develop along the stalled front north of I-70 late Wednesday afternoon or evening, bringing the potential for isolated strong winds and heavy rain. A few of these storms could be on the strong side with a level 1 severe risk in place. Thursday will bring the best chance for widespread heavy rain as the cold front drops south. A few storms in the afternoon could be strong, especially south of Highway 50. Areas south of this corridor could end up with 1.5" -2" of rain Thursday night into Friday as strong low level winds ramp up moisture across the region. Showers and rumbles of thunder exit early on Friday, leaving us with cooler temperatures in the low 50s to end the week. Saturday kicks off the weekend near our seasonal average in the upper 50s to around 60, but a few showers could return as early as Sunday night into Monday with an active pattern continuing into next week.
