Tracking warmer temperatures and an active week ahead with rain and storm chances

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold, lows in the upper 20s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and windy with highs in the upper 50s to around 60.

EXTENDED: Clouds increase tomorrow night ahead of low pressure that will be developing to our west across the Plains and bringing widespread rain on Tuesday. Southwesterly low level winds will draw in moisture for much of the week, setting us up for springtime rounds of rain and storms as a slow moving cold front will finally stall out across Mid-Missouri on Thursday. We'll be tracking a 3-day rain total of 2-3", with the highest amounts of rain centered south of I-70. Temperatures on Tuesday only make the upper 40s, but we'll rebound on Wednesday and Thursday as a warm front lifts north, bringing us into the upper 60s to around 70. Thunderstorms are possible Wednesday night and Thursday, bringing locally heavy rain and gusty winds. Given an increase in wind shear and strong low level moisture from the southwest, there could be some minor flooding issues and potentially a few strong to severe storms through this time period. We'll continue to monitor conditions for the possibility of a Weather Alert Day toward the middle or end of the week as details become more clear. Showers look to exit behind the front on Friday, leaving us with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s to end the week. The weekend is looking nicer with quiet weather on Saturday and highs near 60, but the pattern could get active again by this time next Sunday with more rain on the way.
