Tracking showers changing to light snow before midnight, colder Friday
TONIGHT: Rain changing to light snow for a few hours, tapering off around midnight. A dusting of accumulation is possible on grassy surfaces north of I-70. Road impacts are not expected. Lows in the mid-20s with gusty winds.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, breezy, and cold with highs in the lower 40s. Wind chills in the 30s.
EXTENDED: As cold air quickly moves in tonight behind the cold front, we'll see a transition from rain to snow for the lingering precipitation around 9:00-10:00, with snow showers exiting around midnight or shortly thereafter. I'm not expecting much more than a dusting on the grass given the warm road temperatures. Tomorrow is much cooler with morning temperatures in the mid-20s, along with gusty winds that will keep wind chills in the 30s during the day. Saturday morning is even colder with lows in the upper teens to around 20 and wind chills in the upper single digits. The cold streak continues with sunshine and high pressure on Sunday, with high temperatures only making the upper 30s. We begin to warm up next week as we get to near 50 on Monday, with 60s by mid-week. The pattern gets more active from Wednesday on, with a chance for showers and a few storms between Wednesday and Thursday. Rain amounts with that next round will total around 0.5" to 0.75". Looking ahead, the last week of March may bring more active weather, and temperatures are trending closer to normal. Average highs for this time of year are in the upper 50s.
