Tracking sunshine before Thursday showers

Today: Afternoon highs warm into the lower 60s with mostly sunny skies. Winds remain out of the south at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph possible.

Tonight: Skies become mostly cloudy as winds remain out of the southwest with gusts up to 30 mph. Overnight lows cool to the upper 40s.

Extended: Showers begin in western portions of Mid-Missouri beginning after 5 am Thursday morning. Theses showers become widespread by 8 am and remain across the region throughout the rest of the day with a few rumbles of thunder and strikes of lightning possible. Afternoon highs reach nearly 60 degrees once again. As a cold front slides through the region Thursday night, showers transition over to light snow with up to a dusting possible in some isolated areas. Temperatures then cool the the mid to upper 30s heading into the weekend with drier conditions expected.
