Tracking a warmer but windy Wednesday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Breezy with increasing clouds and highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

EXTENDED: After a chilly start to the week, I'm tracking a big wind shift into Wednesday that will allow temperatures to soar into the lower 60s. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph as clouds begin to increase across the region. We'll be warmer overnight, but showers develop ahead of an advancing cold front, making for a wet Thursday. Expect showers to bring about 0.5" of rain for much of Thursday, along with gusty winds and highs around 60 before the front passes to our east. Behind the cold front, we could have some light snow showers after midnight Thursday night into Friday morning that brings a dusting on grassy surfaces. Friday is much cooler, with morning temperatures in the upper 20s and highs near 40. An arctic high pressure system settles in for the weekend, keeping temperatures in the low 20s Saturday and Sunday mornings with highs in the 30s both days. We gradually warm with the upper pattern shifting by the middle of next week as temperatures climb back into the low 50s Monday and Tuesday.
