Tracking afternoon rain with Friday snow

Today: Afternoon highs rise to the lower 50s with mostly cloudy skies eventually leading to widespread showers after 4 PM. Heavy downpours can be expected at times with winds out of the northwest at 5-10 mph with gust up to 25 mph.

Tonight: Overnight lows cool to the mid-30s with widespread showers covering the region. A few rumbles of thunder remain possible. Winds continue out of the northwest with gusts increasing up to 35 mph.

Extended: Mid-morning Friday sees widespread rainfall start to switch to snowfall in portions of Central Missouri from Jefferson City and north. Thankfully surface temperatures paired with warmer road temperatures means the majority of any falling snow looks to melt. However, some areas to the north towards Macon and Moberly could see some accumulations on elevated and grassy surfaces up to 2" with the possibility of increased snowfall rates. This wetter snowfall looks to exit the region Friday afternoon. Temperatures look to warm approaching Sunday and Monday with drier conditions expected.
