Tracking a mild Wednesday, rain returning Thursday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the lower 40s. Wind gusts up to 20 mph.

TOMORROW: Increasing clouds but still mild with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

EXTENDED: Clouds begin to increase on Wednesday ahead of a cold front, but we still manage to make the low 60s across much of Mid-Missouri before the front begins to cool us down for Thursday. Temperatures Thursday morning will be in the mid-30s with highs only approaching 50. Showers start to move in from the south by late morning or midday as low pressure tracks across the Missouri into Ohio Valleys. Rain will be steady all night Thursday, and depending on the track of the system, cold air could move in to northern Missouri and change rain over to wet snow on Friday morning. If snow does accumulate, it will likely stay on grassy surfaces as we're expecting low snow to liquid ratios and soil temperatures have been quite warm the last few weeks. The farther north this system tracks, the better chance we'll have of seeing mainly rain and a few rumbles of thunder. Precipitation exits by mid-late afternoon Friday, leaving us with high temperatures in the lower 40s. Saturday is cold to start off with morning temperatures in the 20s, but we'll get back into the upper 40s by late afternoon. We'll end the weekend on a nice note with more sunshine and highs in the mid-50s on Sunday.
