Tracking strong storms tonight and high winds lasting most of Monday

TODAY: Overcast and mild with steadily warming temperatures. Sprinkles could begin as early as midmorning and expand in coverage through the afternoon. Winds also increase to around 20-25 mph ahead of storms tonight.

TONIGHT: Showers increase in intensity steadily past sundown, with a strong round of storms possible after midnight along a cold front. For more details on this, head over to our Insider Blog. These storms will carry a conditional severe risk, with the severe window opening from midnight tonight through 4 to 5 a.m. Monday morning. Wind gusts could exceed 60 mph from the strongest storms with isolated 1" hail also possible. Storms exit the vicinity before sunrise but winds will remain gusty most of Monday.

EXTENDED: Wind gusts could continue to reach above 35 mph most of Monday, with an areawide wind advisory lasting through 3 p.m. tomorrow. This will fuel warmer-than-average temperatures even behind the rain, with highs flirting with the 60 mark through Wednesday. A disturbed pattern late week brings back more seasonal conditions, and that could introduce a chance for wintry precip if current forecast trends hold.
