Tracking showers and storms this afternoon

TODAY: Wednesday is a Weather Alert Day, as storms this morning and afternoon may pack a severe punch. While damaging winds are the most likely threat from this system, all severe types are possible, including the possibility of tornadoes. For more detail, read our latest blog. Otherwise, Wednesday will be warm, with temperatures approaching low-to-mid 60s ahead of rain that arrives this morning. Even after the rain exits this afternoon, a cool down is not immediate. The true cold front wind shift doesn't roll through until after the dinner hour.

TONIGHT: Temperatures will fall quickly, placing temperatures in the 30s by early Thursday morning. Winds will be breezy overnight, from the west at 15-20 mph.

EXTENDED: We'll see winds from the northwest sustained between 10-20 mph on Thursday, that will keep either temperatures steady or drop them slightly into the afternoon. Either way, it's a chilly one on Thursday, ahead of similarly cool day on Friday where highs reach 40 under a partly cloudy sky. More warmth and moisture returns Friday night. Some light showers may result in a light mix at the onset of precipitation, but it is short lived, and an adjustment in temps may prevent this. Saturday may end up mostly dry, but more shower activity tries to move in by the end of the day into early Sunday. Then another round arrives Sunday evening as temperatures Saturday and Sunday climb each day into the upper 50s. More warmth and rain is expect Monday as showers remain widespread and temperatures climb into the 60s again. Drier weather returns Tuesday.
