Tracking widespread rain and strong winds Tuesday

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with rain moving in shortly before sunrise. Lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.

TOMORROW: Rain likely through much of the day with gusty winds. Wind gusts could to 45 mph during the day. Highs in the mid-50s.

EXTENDED: Tomorrow is looking soggy and windy as we'll be tracking rain that moves in before dawn and very gusty winds ahead of a cold front that will bring about 0.25" to 0.35" of rain through tomorrow night. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the entire viewing area with wind gusts around 45 mph expected through the afternoon. Winds die down a touch heading into Wednesday morning, but temperatures will be variable across the state ahead of another strong low pressure system that moves in Wednesday night. The pattern this week is reminiscent of early spring with temperatures getting into the 60s here on Wednesday afternoon, but by Thursday morning areas north of I-70 could wake up to a dusting to an inch of snow. Snow ratios will be low, meaning it will be wet if it does accumulate. The bigger impact will be across northwest Missouri where 2-4" of snow is likely. Snow showers would end early, but points to the south could end up with some rain into Thursday afternoon before the front clears the area. The highest risk for severe weather on Thursday across the state will be to our southeast across the bootheel. Temperatures drop into the upper 30s for highs on Thursday, but sunshine returns Friday to try to get us to 40. The weekend will be some welcome relief from the cold with highs getting into the low 50s Saturday and near 60 again on Sunday.
