Tracking another mild and dry day ahead of more rain

TODAY: Monday is a carry-over of pleasant weather from the weekend. Expect sunshine, and highs in the upper 50s, nearing 60. As some slightly cooler air has arrived, accompanying a wind shift, we'll have highs generally a few degrees cooler than Sunday.

TONIGHT: High pressure overhead today slides east this evening, turning winds from the south. This and additional cloud cover keep temperatures warm overnight as we only dip into the 40s.

EXTENDED: We'll wake up warm and potentially wet on Tuesday, as light showers are moving in by sunrise. Our first round moves from the southwest to northeast through the morning, bringing a widely scattered chance for some light showers along a warm front. Round two arrives along another front that will bring better chances for moderate to heavy rainfall. This round focuses primarily on the afternoon, and may leave us dry by the dinner hour on Valentine's Day. Temperatures will climb into the low 50s by late morning, and level off as rain arrives. Breezy conditions will join the wet weather, with winds sustained in the 15-20 mph range, gusting as high as 30-40 mph at times making for a generally uncomfortable day. We'll dry out for most of Wednesday as this system leaves. An associated boundary stalls across the region, leaving potential high temperatures varied greatly from the 40s/50s in the northwest, and 50s/60s in the southeast. Cold air returns for all on Thursday, as a system travels in along the stalled boundary, bringing a chance for a wintry mix late Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Highs settle in the 30s Thursday, and Friday as high pressure sets in. High pressure keeps us dry and clear heading into the weekend, and as it shifts eastward, we'll start to warm back into the 50s this weekend.
