Tracking a cold end to the work week before a warmup this weekend

TODAY: After a cool and breezy day on Thursday, Friday is shaping up a little calmer, but just as cold. As high pressure moves in today, we'll see winds relax. We'll start the day with a 10 mph or so breeze from the north, with winds calming into the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will remain in the 30s this afternoon with northerly flow under mostly cloudy skies for much of the morning. Skies will be increasingly sunny by the afternoon, but it won't help much with temperatures.

TONIGHT: Skies will be clear overnight, as high pressure sits overhead. This will allow temperatures to fall as cool as low 20s by early Saturday morning.

EXTENDED: With clear skies, Saturday looks bright, and warms quickly. Although, our warmup is more likely attributed to winds from the south as high pressure leaves us to the east. Expect highs in the upper 40s on Saturday, and in the upper 50s on Sunday as southerly winds intensify. This will happen ahead of a surface trough that approaches from the west late Sunday. This will bring some high clouds in Sunday afternoon, and keep us cloudy overnight into Monday, but with such little moisture, it looks like we'll stay dry. Monday is another warm day, with highs reaching 50s under mostly sunny skies. Early Tuesday, a warm front looks like it will lift across the region as a surface low approaches from the southwest. This has increased the likelihood of rain on Tuesday as confidence grows in this system. Rain will start to leave by late Tuesday into Wednesday, but another system quick on it's heels tries to return by Thursday. Given the slim uncertainty remaining with system 1, and larger questions surrounding system 2, we've kept a slight chance for rain on Wednesday, but it currently looks like a drier day.
