Tracking widespread rain on Wednesday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and chilly with a few showers possible near the Lake of the Ozarks. Lows in the mid-30s.

TOMORROW: Rain likely as showers spread in from south to north. Winds increasing by late evening with gusts up to 30 mph. Highs reach the upper 40s with 1-1.5" rain possible.

EXTENDED: As low pressure moves to our south, light showers work as far north as the Lake of the Ozarks tonight, with rain slowly moving in from the south for the rest of Mid-Missouri between Wednesday morning and afternoon. Widespread rain continues into Wednesday night, with heavy rain and perhaps a bit of wet snow mixing in north of I-70 by daybreak. Gusty winds wrap around low pressure on Thursday as it exits, with gusts between 35-40 mph. Despite the strong winds, we will still see high temperatures reaching the upper 40s. Another quick moving system will bring a chance for a few showers overnight Thursday, with precipitation turning over to snowfall on Friday morning as temperatures will be hovering near the freezing mark. Snow showers come to an end by midday, leaving us with about a dusting to 0.5" of accumulation, mainly on grassy surfaces. Road temperatures have been warm all week, so much of this will melt on contact. The rest of Friday is cold with highs in the upper 30s. We see much improvement over the weekend with highs in the mid-40s and sunshine on Saturday. We'll have perfect Superbowl BBQ weather on Sunday with more sunshine and highs in the mid-50s. Next week starts off mild with highs in the 50s and another shot at rain late Monday into Tuesday.
