Tracking strong winds and mild temperatures Monday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the lower 30s. Wind gusts up to 20 mph

TOMORROW: Increasing clouds and windy with gusts between 35-40 mph. Highs in the upper 50s to around 60.

EXTENDED: A warm front lifts through the area on Monday, and coupled with strong low level southwest winds, we could see gusts up to 40 mph across parts of Mid-Missouri in the afternoon. The strong breeze will help send temperatures almost 20 degrees warmer than normal. A cold front moves in from the west Monday night, bringing a chance for light rain after sunset. Showers exit early on Tuesday morning, leaving us with a high near 50 degrees in the afternoon. Low pressure to our south will push rain in our direction on Wednesday into Thursday, bringing 0.5" to 1" of rain, with the higher amounts focused south of I-70. Temperatures remain steady on Wednesday and Thursday in the upper 40s to around 50. Another front moves through between Thursday and Friday, but temperatures may be cool enough for a rain/snow mix on Friday morning briefly before exiting as cold rain. Another 0.1" to 0.25" of liquid precipitation is expected with that round. We'll be cool to close out the week, with highs near 40 on Friday afternoon. The weekend is looking warmer as high pressure moves back in and sunshine brings temperatures into the mid-40s to low 50s.
