Tracking a few rain or snow showers early Thursday with gusty winds sticking around

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and breezy with lows in the mid-30s.

TOMORROW: A few light showers or snow showers are possible through about noon, with little to no accumulation expected. Gusty west winds pick up to about 30 mph, and highs reach the upper 30s to around 40.

EXTENDED: Most of the widespread rainfall exits by early evening, leaving us windy and cloudy overnight. Tomorrow morning between about 6:00 and noon we can expect a few spotty showers or flurries across areas along and north of I-70, and if we see any sort of snow it would likely stay on the grass as road temperatures will be above freezing. We'll remain breezy with gusts up to 30 mph from the west as this system finally exits. Friday is looking dry and chilly with highs in the lower 40s. The weekend starts off dry on Saturday as we reach the low to mid-40s, but I'm tracking another low pressure system that will bring a chance of precipitation by late afternoon into the evening. Depending on the track and temperatures, we could end up with a rain/snow mix for parts of the area into early Sunday morning. Forecast models have been in better agreement that we could see around a half inch to an inch of wet snow accumulation through Sunday morning for areas along and north of I-70. If the track shifts a bit farther north, we could end up with mostly cold rain as temperatures could be a few degrees above freezing. We'll be eyeing that closely over the next 24 hours or so. Once that exits, we'll remain seasonably cool on Sunday with highs in the lower 40s. Next week stays chilly, with another chance of rain or snow by mid-week.
