Tracking a mild Sunday ahead of a soggy week

TODAY: Winds picking up from the south at 10-15 mph, with gusts up to 20. Temperatures start out near freezing and warm dramatically to the 50s this afternoon. Light rain could arrive by 6 pm at the earliest for our western counties, with showers slowly spreading areawide overnight.

TOMORROW: Steady rain in the morning with scattered heavy downpours. We clear up slightly by late morning, but expect another round of showers and storms in the afternoon. No severe weather is expected in our area though storms in northeastern Missouri could become stronger.

EXTENDED: Monday night a cold front moves through the area, dropping our temperatures for the rest of the week. Our next chance for rain is Wednesday morning, as temperatures stay above freezing. But, chances are rising for an early AM wintry mix on Thursday, as colder air begins to move in. Accumulation is little to none as of right now, but as the week goes on we'll get a clearer picture. Another system could possibly impact the area next weekend, keeping soggy conditions in place.
