Tracking rain changing to snow into Thursday, light accumulation possible

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with showers moving in late. Rain changes to snow by morning, leaving light accumulation by late Thursday morning. Lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Rain changing to snow early, making roads wet and slushy. Snow accumulation between a dusting and 0.5". Highs come early in the morning with temperatures holding in the mid-30s throughout the day.

EXTENDED: Clouds increase tonight with scattered showers spreading in late as temperatures remain above freezing for most of the night. The track of the low pressure system will stay to our south, allowing cold air to change rain over to snow from northwest to southeast by daybreak through late morning. We'll likely see a transition from rain to snow between about 4-6:00 a.m. for areas from Macon to Marshall, and a bit later for Columbia and Jefferson City. Accumulating snow only lasts for a couple hours in any one location, leaving us with about a dusting to 1/2" of accumulation. As precipitation exits to the southeast, there could be some isolated 1" amounts near the Lake of the Ozarks. Temperatures will be warmer than freezing along and south of I-44, keeping cold rain for the southeastern portions of the state. Temperatures don't recover behind the front, remaining in the 30s through most of the day.
Friday starts off colder in the mid-20s with highs getting into the upper 30s. Upper high pressure begins to build back in on Saturday and Sunday, bringing temperatures into the upper 40s to around 50 on Saturday and into the mid-50s on Sunday. Another low pressure system approaches late Sunday night into Monday, bringing the potential of 0.5" of rain through Monday evening as temperatures stay in the 50s to start next week. Next week is looking active with rain returning on Wednesday and temperatures continuing to be warmer than normal.
