Tracking single digit wind chills tonight, finally getting above freezing tomorrow

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy with lows near 10 degrees. Wind chills in the low single digits.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with temperatures warming back into the mid-30s.

EXTENDED: We finally break past the freezing mark on Tuesday as high pressure slides to the south, shifting winds to become more southerly with sunshine returning. Highs get into the mid-30s with lows falling into the upper 20s by Wednesday morning. We'll see a few clouds on Wednesday, but temperatures get to near 50 degrees, almost 10 degrees above average as our upper pattern brings southwest flow to the region. I'm tracking a warm front that will bring even warmer air on Thursday as high temperatures reach the lower 60s, but we'll also see an increase of moisture that could trigger some showers ahead of a cold front later on Thursday, especially for areas east of Highway 63. Scattered showers could continue into Friday and early Saturday with temperatures dropping into the lower 50s behind the cold front to start the weekend. Rain amounts will be in the 0.5" to 1" range with the higher amounts of that range east of Highway 54. We're looking dry on Sunday to kick off the new year with highs near 50.
