Tracking a big cool down heading into the start of the weekend
TONIGHT: Clouds gradually decrease overnight with winds picking up to 30 mph at times. Lows in the low to mid-20s with morning wind chills between 15-17 degrees.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and colder with highs in the upper 30s.
EXTENDED: . I'm tracking a cold front that brings a few showers to the area after sunset tonight, but I'm not expecting much more than a sprinkle or two. Behind the front, winds shift back to the northwest, bringing temperatures down into the low 20s by morning. Morning wind chills will be in the mid-upper teens thanks to a breeze between 10-20 mph. Saturday is colder with highs in the upper 30s, but we can expect a sunny start to the weekend. Clouds start to move back in Saturday night as low pressure slides by to our south. A couple flurries will be possible, but I'm not expecting any problems or impacts. Sunday is warmer with highs reaching the upper 40s. Rain stays to the south, but we could see a few showers returning by late Monday afternoon or evening for areas generally south of I-70. As that low pressure system moves northeast, we'll have a shot at rain on Tuesday, but amounts look to stay under 0.25". The pattern remains active for the rest of the week with another storm system moving in between Wednesday night and Thursday night, bringing measurable rain. A few flurries may mix in between Wednesday night and Thursday due to temperatures dripping to near freezing, but minimal winter impacts are expected. Rain comes to an end before sunrise on Friday, ending the week with a bit more sunshine and highs in the lower 40s.
