Tracking a blast of arctic air early this week

Today: Breezy and seasonable with temperatures starting out in the lower 40s. Despite northerly winds, we'll still climb to the upper 60s this afternoon. Wind gusts reach up to 20 mph.

Tomorrow: Early morning temperatures in the 30s; gusty conditions push the wind chill down to the lower 20s. Highs struggle to reach the upper 40s as northerly winds continue. Wind gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoon.

Extended: A Freeze Watch has been issued for Monday night as temperatures continue to drop. Monday night lows cool to the mid-20s with a wind chill in the teens early Tuesday. This will spell out another chilly day on Tuesday as highs again only make it to the 40s. Several temperature records are in jeopardy on Monday - Columbia's record low sits at 26 while the coolest daily high observed is 48 degrees. Tuesday night's record low may also be reached, currently standing at 25 degrees. By midweek a subtle shift in winds from a more westerly direction will lead to a steady warmup back to seasonal conditions in time for Mizzou homecoming.
