Tracking scattered storms to wrap up the weekend

Today: Scattered showers and storms move through early in the morning and clear out before the afternoon. Temperatures remain well above average with highs in the lower 90s. A second round of strong storms is possible to the northeast late this evening, though Mid-Missouri is not expected to see much of this activity.

Tomorrow: Skies clear out and temperatures continue to ramp up. Highs hit the mid-90s with a feels-like near 100 degrees.

Extended: The worst of the heat lasts into Tuesday as the heat index again approaches triple digits. By midweek a stout cold front is likely to move into Mid-Missouri, though timing continues to shift. How early this system arrives will determine our peak temperatures on Wednesday, but a big cooldown is in store late week. Highs drop nearly twenty degrees back to the 70s by Thursday with a return to seasonal conditions next weekend.
