Tracking the beginnings of our next heat wave
TODAY: Heat returns Monday, as temperatures soar into the mid 90s. Thanks to a south wind both at the surface, and further up in the atmosphere, a big influx of warm air will leave us feeling considerably warmer than Sunday. With temperatures in the mid 90s, and dewpoints near 70, heat index values will likely fall in the 100-103 range. A heat advisory is in effect until Wednesday night for all except Monroe county. Otherwise, Monday is mostly sunny, with a few extra clouds around noon.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies tonight won't have much impact on our forecast. A slight south breeze continues overnight to keep us in the 70s overnight.
EXTENDED: Tuesday keeps a south breeze in the forecast, but this time things are a bit breezier, with windspeeds potentially in the 10-20 mph range. This will serve to keep us warm and humid for another day. Expect partly cloudy skies, with a high in the upper 90s, if not reaching 100. Humidity will have us feeling like 100-105. Again, our heat advisory lasts through Wednesday night. This is because we're climbing into the upper 90s on Wednesday, before a cold front arrives Wednesday evening. This will bring a chance for thunderstorms after the dinner hour, and cool us for Thursday. Highs may just barely dip into the upper 80s on Thursday, before they rebound into the 90s with abundant sunshine heading into the weekend.
