Tracking a cold front that pushes rain out

TODAY: Dry early this morning, showers and storms to our north west will arrive by late morning. Storms in Nebraska and Kansas this morning will move east towards mid-MO ahead of a cold front. Storms will likely clip our lake area counties, but showers are possible further north along the front as well. This will also bring clouds for most during the morning. We may see some clearing this afternoon, which may prompt the chance for some isolated thunderstorm development. Ahead of the front, we may see temperatures climb into the mid-to-upper 80s.

TONIGHT: Overnight, the front will settle just south of mid-Missouri, just close enough to keep clouds over at least our southern most counties.

EXTENDED: By Friday morning, the front remains to our south, but not by much. As the boundary sits over southern Missouri, some remnant shower activity may remain near I-44 on Friday, but dry conditions should remain for most and widespread rain remains to our south. Highs are cooler behind the front, in the low 80s. Dry weather with more sunshine is expected Saturday, with highs remaining in the low 80s. The moisture starts to lift north again on Sunday, prompting chances for storms. Rain chances are lower for Monday, but a passing wave brings a chance closer to Monday evening. Temperatures climb back into the 90s on Monday, and a warming pattern takes shape into midweek, carrying us into the mid-90s by Tuesday, and upper 90s by Wednesday. Drier conditions return with the heat at least through Wednesday.
