Tracking a steady climb towards triple digits

TODAY: Sunshine returns with mostly clear skies this morning. Starting in the 70s this morning, a north wind keeps us only in the mid 90s this afternoon. Temperatures will feel pretty true to themselves with little interference from humidity.

TONIGHT: Skies stay clear overnight tonight, allowing us to cool just into the upper 60s in most places across mid-Missouri.

EXTENDED: South winds return to the picture, warming us into the upper 90s on Thursday. A passing wave brings a slight chance for showers north of I-70 on Friday morning, but otherwise we stay dry with temperatures approaching 100. This would be the first 100 degree reading at Columbia Regional Airport this year. Low 100's is the forecast Saturday as well, despite a few extra clouds from some activity to our north. Heading into Sunday, that activity will try to move into mid-Missouri. A chance for showers and storms arrives with a front that drops in from the north Saturday night. The boundary may stall Sunday, keeping rain in the forecast to end the weekend. It's still unclear as to how this will affect temperatures, but this has potential to make for a cooler end to the weekend. Still, temperatures are expected to be above average and in the 90s through the beginning of next week, where rain chances remain.
