Tracking lower humidity, dry stretch with little rain this week
TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with a few isolated showers and storms, lows near 70.
TOMORROW: Spot shower early, clearing and less humid with highs in the upper 80s to around 90.
EXTENDED: It's been a toasty start to the week with temperatures reaching the upper 90s this afternoon. A weak cold front moves in from the north late tonight, bringing cloud cover and a few showers and storms overnight. One or two of these storms could bring isolated gusty winds, but the better chance for severe storms will be off to our east across central Illinois. Clouds gradually exit on Tuesday morning, leaving us with more sunshine, lower humidity, and temperatures in the upper 80s in the afternoon. The upper level pattern doesn't shift much during the week, but luckily we will be on the eastern side of upper high pressure, meaning winds aloft will be coming from the north-northwest. That will allow drier air to continue filtering in and keep us less humid. Unfortunately, our streak of dry weather will continue as disturbances will have a hard time breaking through this area of high pressure. Temperatures reach the mid-90s again by Friday, with another front potentially moving in on Saturday that could bring a chance for isolated storms.
