Tracking dangerous heat the next few days

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and muggy with lows in the upper 70s.

TOMORROW: Hot and humid with highs in the upper 90s. Heat index between 104-107.

EXTENDED: Intense heat continues most of this week with a heat index topping 105 tomorrow and getting close again on Wednesday. There's a chance we may need to extend the WAD into Thursday, but cloud cover may mitigate that. The best chances for rain this week will be just to our north along the top of the ridge of high pressure. A frontal boundary set up just to our north could trigger showers and storms by mid-week for some of our northern counties, but as the ridge tries to break down we'll see a better shot at storms Thursday through Saturday as the front slides across the area. Despite the frontal passage, we'll likely hold onto the 90s into the weekend with high pressure overhead. The overall trend for the next two weeks is hotter than normal with precipitation leveling back out to near normal.
