Tracking a beautiful end to the week, weekend rain chances

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool with lows falling into the lower 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and gorgeous with highs in the upper 70s to around 80.

EXTENDED: High pressure sliding overhead will keep winds calm and allow temperatures to drop into the low to mid-50s overnight. Expect sunshine into Friday as winds gradually shift to the south, bringing temperatures into the upper 70s to around 80. Saturday starts off sunny and dry with a slow moving front to our north. As that front stalls out on Saturday, a train of disturbances will begin sliding through the area along this front. That could trigger a few showers and storms by early Saturday evening, becoming more numerous Saturday night into Sunday. Severe weather chances look low for both days. Scattered storms are possible through the day Sunday, but temperatures remain in the upper 70s. We can expect active weather into next week with daily storm chances thanks to the jet stream being positioned to the northwest, sending more waves of energy our way. Temperatures will cool below average for most of the week, and total rain amounts will range between 2-3". River levels are expected to drop below flood stage this weekend, but we'll have to keep a close eye on them next week.
