Tracking scattered showers and storms, cooler temperatures on Thursday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a few storms. Lows in the upper 50s.
TOMORROW: Cloudy with scattered showers and a few storms. Highs in the mid-upper 60s.
EXTENDED: The better environment for severe weather for the rest of the afternoon and evening is going to be east of Highway 54. The risk will be low, but the main concern would be a quick tornado or two through early evening. As the cold front works east, temperatures will drop into the 50s tonight, with continued cloud cover and a spot shower or storm possible. Low pressure is stubborn to exit until Friday, keeping clouds around along with the chance of scattered storms Thursday, but I am not expecting a severe weather threat. We'll stay in the mid-60s for highs on Thursday. Clouds will gradually decrease on Friday, with the best chance of a shower east of Highway 63 through the afternoon. We finally see clouds exit Friday night, leading into a warmer weekend as highs reach the low 80s Saturday. Memorial Day weekend is looking dry and hot as we get to near 90 by Monday. The dry pattern looks to hold through mid-late next week until the high pressure system aloft starts to break down. A better chance of rain/storms returns by next Wednesday or Thursday with an active period to follow.
