Tracking a warmer Tuesday ahead of strong storms Tuesday night
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the lower 50s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny early with increasing clouds. Highs in the lower 80s. Storm chances increasing late with severe weather possible after midnight.
EXTENDED: Temperatures begin to warm up back above average on Tuesday as highs reach the low to mid-80s with southerly winds, but the chance for storms returns late Tuesday night as a warm front lifts into the area. Strong low-level winds will allow storms to bring heavy rainfall that could train over the same areas overnight. Storms will fill in from northwest to southeast likely after 11:00 p.m. or midnight and last into the early morning hours. The main concerns will be isolated strong winds up to 60 mph, quarter size hail, and locally heavy rainfall that could cause areal flooding. Rain amounts could get into the 1-1.5" range in stronger thunderstorms. Storms will exit to the east by late morning, leaving us with more sunshine by late afternoon and highs getting into the upper 80s behind the cold front that slides through during the day. Thursday is looking like a drier day, but we still manage to make the upper 80s with sunshine. Friday could end up being another active day with a cold front setting up to our west early, pushing through by late afternoon and evening. The ingredients are starting to signal the potential for severe weather, so we'll be monitoring the timing of that front closely this week. Behind the front on Saturday we'll have a chance of seeing lingering showers, and temperatures fall into the upper 60s for highs. Sunday's looking like the nicer day of the weekend with a high near 70 and more sun.
