Tracking a cool and damp Easter before a modest warmup next week

TONIGHT:

Most of us have kicked the rain to the curb, with the last of the showers activity on radar keeping south of Jefferson City as of about 4 p.m. Skies will start to clear after the rain exits, but high cloud cover moves in from the west. This won't introduce any more chances for rain overnight. We're cooling into the low 40s early Saturday morning.

TOMORROW:

Saturday ends up partly cloudy with high to mid level clouds sticking around for much of the day. Still, I don't expect a blanket of overcast clouds, so keep the sunglasses handy. Overall, Saturday is cool with north winds behind today's cold front. Despite clouds, Saturday remains dry. Late Saturday into early Sunday, the clouds thicken, and temperatures cool into the low 40s.

EXTENDED:

Easter Sunday starts off cool, but dry. North winds have by this point flooded the region with dry air. This will help eat at approaching moisture Sunday. Eventually the rain wins out, and showers will start to impact our Easter Sunday. Arrival time for rain looks to primarily be after 9 am for those in the west, and closer to 12-3 for those east of highway 63. Temperatures begin in the lower 40s peaking out into the low 50s by the afternoon. Cooler than average is the trend into mid-week next week. Temperatures do begin a warming trend that lasts through next week, but we'll have to wait until Thursday before we climb significantly above normal again.
