Tracking cooler air and spot showers the next two days

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and chilly with gusty west winds. Lows in the upper 30s.

TOMORROW: Breezy and mostly cloudy with a chance of spot showers. Highs in the upper 40s to around 50.

EXTENDED: Patchy clouds continue to hold on into tonight, but temperatures drop into the upper 30s as winds remain in the 15-20 mph range. Tomorrow is much cooler with low pressure spinning across the Great Lakes, pushing cooler air in from the northwest with gusts up to 25 mph. Highs reach the upper 40s to around 50. Spotty showers are possible toward evening, with a few flurries potentially mixing in. Friday is the coolest day with cloudy skies and a chance for more sprinkles or light snow showers, with highs reaching the mid-40s. Friday night will be the coldest of the week with another hard freeze possible as lows dip into the upper 20s to low 30s. The weekend is looking much more pleasant with highs in the mid-50s Saturday along with more sun. Sunday is warmer with temperatures reaching near 70. Next week will kick off an active pattern with showers possible Sunday night into Monday. Thunderstorms are likely in the Tuesday through Wednesday time frame as a deep low pressure system begins to push the jet stream south across the Plains. Ingredients will begin to come together for the potential for strong storms to our west and southwest, and will be favorable across Mid-Missouri both days. We'll keep a close eye on this setup as the details become more clear. Temperatures early next week will reach the low to mid-70s. Rain amounts Sunday night through Thursday will be in the 1-2" range. Behind this system, we could hold onto some showers Thursday, but temperatures look to cool down near or below average heading into Good Friday and Easter weekend.
