Tracking steady rain and a few storms tonight
TONIGHT: Cloudy with showers and a few thunderstorms. Lows in the upper 40s to around 50.
TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with a lull in rain after daybreak. A few storms possible toward late afternoon. Highs in the mid-60s.
EXTENDED: Cloud cover has already started moving in ahead of rain that will spread across the region this evening. Showers will continue from about 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. from west to east throughout the overnight hours into Tuesday morning. We're expecting a lull with some dry time from about 4:00 to 5:00 a.m. through mid-afternoon. Cloud cover could limit further development of rain and storms for much of the day, but if sunshine breaks through for a long enough time frame when we can maximize the marginal amount of instability, there could be a couple of strong storms near Highway 65 by late afternoon. The overall severe weather risk is low because of this conditionality, but if we start to see trends that more sunshine is likely, that threat could increase a bit. The main concerns would be an isolated tornado and 1" hail. Showers and scattered storms will continue Tuesday night as low pressure slowly works east. Off and on showers are possible on Wednesday along with cloud cover and chilly temperatures as highs remain in the upper 40s to around 50. Chilly air works in Wednesday night, and any lingering precipitation may fall as flurries through early Thursday morning. No impacts are expected with that as temperatures quickly rise into the mid-upper 40s Thursday. Rain totals will range from about 1-1.5". We can expect a nicer end to the week with more sunshine and highs reaching the low 60s again on Friday, with upper 50s and low 60s for the weekend.
