Tracking a wet pattern, with a silver lining of a weekend ahead

MONDAY:

Monday will start warm and quiet. Some high clouds overhead are a sign of what's to come. A brief break in the clouds may yield more of a mostly sunny sky, but an overall forecast of partly cloudy is in place thanks to increasing clouds again this afternoon, ahead of rain chances. Showers are expected to move in from the southwest around 5-7p.m. in our western most counties (Pettis, Benton, etc.) and push through the rest of the area around a window of 7-9pm. Overall, most of the day stays dry, with temperatures climbing well into the mid-70's.

TUESDAY:

Rain will persist overnight into the dark morning hours of Tuesday. At some point around or before sunrise, rain will start to taper off as the warm front of this low lifts to the north. Some dry time will enter the forecast, but it's unclear exactly how much, as we will likely see shower and thunderstorm development again later in the morning on Tuesday. Storms that develop later in the morning, closer to the noon hour will have potential to be strong to severe. If ingredients continue to line up on Tuesday, we may see a few storms capable of producing hail, damaging winds, or even a tornado. At this time, this is a small risk, but with the potential for sever weather, we will be watching the situation closely, so stay tuned for updates. Temperatures climb into the 60's ahead of a cold front.

EXTENDED:

Rain continues behind the cold front Tuesday night. The chance for showers will diminish, but persist into Wednesday. Overall, Wednesday looks cool and rainy, with highs in the 40's. Temperatures continue to fall Thursday, where guidance wants to keep a stubborn low deck of clouds that will be capable of extending a chance for light showers and perhaps even a flurry. Other than testing our patience, this won't have any impact. Temperatures still reach mid-to-high 40's on Thursday. Sunshine and warmth returns this weekend, with 60's back in play.
