Tracking a quick cooldown today

THURSDAY

A cold front has passed through the viewing area this morning and will work on cooling us down this afternoon. Temperatures will only top out in the middle 50’s today, despite a healthy dose of sunshine. Winds out of the northeast will gust to 25 mph in some spots.

TONIGHT

We’ll hang on to mostly clear skies as lows fall into the mid to upper 30’s.

EXTENDED

We’re getting back into the warm weather on Friday. Clouds will increase during the afternoon as highs reach the middle 60’s tomorrow. We’ll need to watch out for a few stray sprinkles overnight, but that will help keep lows in the 50’s. That makes it a little easier to reach 70 on Saturday ahead of an approaching cold front. That front will attempt to fire up some storms Saturday evening. If it can, those could become severe with a few ingredients in play. That front will stall on Sunday, bringing back more shower and thunderstorm chances Sunday night into Monday. The severe threat with this round looks to stay to our south, but we could see a good soaking out of this batch. Cooler air will filter in on the backside of this system, which could change the leftover rain on Monday into some light snow for some. Highs will fall from the 70’s on Saturday to the low 40’s by Monday. We’ll recover into the upper 40’s Tuesday and Wednesday.
