Tracking spring moving out, winter moving in

morning rain
KMIZ

TUESDAY

Showers and storms will greet some of us out the door this morning. Much cooler air is on the way in, dropping temperatures into the 30’s by this afternoon. A few peeks of sunshine will be possible after midday after the showers move east.

TONIGHT

Partly cloudy skies and a northwest breeze will keep cooling us off overnight. Lows will bottom out in the teens, feeling like the single-digits by sunrise.

EXTENDED

We’ll only manage the upper 20’s for highs on Wednesday as this cold airmass sets up. Our next wintry system moves into that cold air Wednesday evening. This round of wintry precipitation will initially start out as sleet but should fall mostly as snow. There will likely be a lull in the activity very early on Thursday but things will pick back up into the afternoon and evening. This system wraps up leaving 1-3” of snow and sleet with higher amounts likely south of I-70. We’re quieter heading into the weekend, with highs in the low 30’s Friday warming to near 40 Saturday and Sunday.
