Wabash Bus Station to open overnight warming center ahead of cold weather, new daytime hours also set to begin
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The city of Columbia is set to open the emergency overnight warming center at the Wabash Bus Station Wednesday and Thursday ahead of expected winter weather and below-freezing temperatures.
The Wabash Bus Station will also open Wednesday during the day as a warming center. The station will open every day besides Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.
According to a press release put out by the city, it will contract a private security company to staff the warming center during the day and overnight.
Columbia also recently changed the temperature requirements for the overnight warming center to open from 15 to 25 degrees.
In the same press release, the city said it will continue to work with emergency shelter providers in the city. Columbia also has warming centers located across the city.

- Boone County Government Center, 801 E. Walnut St.
- Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services, 1005 W. Worley St.
- Columbia Public Library, 100 W. Broadway
- Salvation Army, 1108 W. Ash St.
- Salvation Army Harbor House, 602 N. Ann St.
- St. Francis House, 901 Range Line St.
- Wabash Bus Station, 126 N. 10th St.

- Room at the Inn
- Salvation Army Harbor House, 602 N. Ann St.
- True North (for domestic violence)
- Turning Point, 702 Wilkes Blvd.
- Welcome Home (for veterans), 2120 Business Loop 70 E.
- St. Francis House (for men), 901 Range Line St.
- Rainbow House (for children/youth), 1611 Towne Dr.
- Flourish (for youth)
