Wabash Bus Station warming center to begin new hours Wednesday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Wabash Bus Station, which serves as an emergency warming center, is now set to be open throughout the week for residents looking to stay warm.

The warming center, will now be open Monday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., with the City of Columbia contracting a private security staff to staff the center.

This, as Columbia also opened the warming center overnight Friday and Saturday as temperatures remained bitterly cold overnight.

The city recently announced in a press release, that it changed the threshold to open the center, from 15 degrees to 25 degrees.

In the press release, the city lists other warming centers and shelters available for residents to utilize throughout the day and night, to stay warm.

  • Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services, 1005 W. Worley St.

  • Salvation Army, 1108 W. Ash St.
  • Salvation Army Harbor House, 602 N. Ann St.
  • St. Francis House, 901 Range Line St.

Shelters

  • Turning Point (day shelter 7 a.m. - noon, M - F), 702 Wilkes Blvd.
