Columbia plow crews to treat roads ahead of potential freezing rain

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia is set to have a 17-person crew in at 6 a.m. on Saturday due to concerns that morning rain may create icy conditions.

According to a press release, the public works crew will focus on preventing slickness by treating priority roads along with bridges, hills and intersections.

With temperatures expected to rise throughout the day, Columbia Public Works said it expects the plow crew to wrap up operations Saturday afternoon. Columbia Public Works is also reminding drivers to drive with extreme caution on Saturday morning.

The city is also reminding residents to closely monitor the weather conditions as they can quickly change. The MODOT Traveler's Map can be utilized to check road conditions throughout the state.
