Tracking quiet weather for the holiday week, warm Christmas weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with patchy fog developing near river valleys. Lows in the mid-20s.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 40s.

EXTENDED: This week will largely be quiet for much of our area, but we will be keeping our eye on a few fronts that could bring some temperature changes over the next week. The first front is working its way across our area today, bringing a slight dip in temperatures by tomorrow. We could see some areas of patchy fog with light winds and clear skies, and temperatures drop into the mid-20s overnight, which is near our seasonal average low. Tomorrow will be sunny once again but a bit colder with highs only reaching the mid-40s. Winds shift back southwest late this week as a warm front lifts into the area Thursday into Friday, bringing highs into the upper 50s with a few more clouds on Thursday. Friday is the warmest but breeziest day of the week as temperatures encroach on record territory once again. We have high wind shear in place, but luckily a big lack of moisture as a cold front comes through during the day and into the evening. The dew point spread is almost 30 degrees by afternoon, so we can likely count ourselves out of rain or storms and end up with a dry and windy Christmas Eve. As the front moves east, we'll cool down into the mid-50s by Saturday with dry travel weather through Sunday.
